About Sean

Sean Avram Carpenter is an internationally acclaimed concert violinist celebrated for the brilliance of his technique, the depth of his musical insight, and the unmistakable warmth of his sound. Inspired by the legendary traditions of Jascha Heifetz, Nathan Milstein, and David Oistrakh, he combines the great Russian and Franco-Belgian violin schools with a distinctive artistic voice that speaks naturally to modern audiences.

A graduate of Princeton University and the University of Cambridge, Sean pursued advanced violin studies with Boris Belkin, Lewis Kaplan, Louise Behrend, and Aaron Rosand. Their combined influence helped shape an artist equally devoted to virtuosity, stylistic authenticity, and expressive freedom.

Sean performs on the 1730 Guarneri del Gesù “Fritz Kreisler” Twin, an exceptional historic instrument whose richness and projection inspire every performance. His artistic vision is rooted in preserving the great violin tradition while presenting it with freshness, elegance, and emotional intensity.

His repertoire encompasses masterpieces by Max Bruch, Henri Vieuxtemps, Jean Sibelius, Sergei Prokofiev, Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelssohn, Niccolò Paganini, and Ludwig van Beethoven. He is equally passionate about chamber music, virtuoso salon repertoire, and rediscovering overlooked masterpieces.
